Shoppable Videos in TikTok Shop Seller Center: The Seller's Own Toolkit

By ShopSlayer TeamPublished Last updated

Key takeaways

  • Shoppable Video is in Seller Center on app and web. It is for videos on your own official account.
  • Get Inspired shows top videos, accounts, hashtags and songs.
  • You can auto-generate a video from product images, or start from a CapCut template.
  • A LIVE that ended with more than 300 views can be reused as a highlight video with products linked.
  • Content Quality Check scans a video for policy issues before you post. Its result is a guide, not a guarantee.

Sellers often ask us whether they should be making their own videos or leaving it all to affiliates. Both, is the honest answer, and your own videos make your affiliates better.

TikTok has quietly built a decent toolkit for the first half of that. It sits in Seller Center under Shoppable Video, on both the app and the web, and a lot of sellers have never opened it.

What is inside#

ToolWhat it does
Get InspiredShows top videos, accounts, hashtags and songs on TikTok
Auto-generateBuilds a video from your product images and selling points
Video templatesTemplates by category and length, opened in CapCut
LIVE HighlightTurns an ended LIVE into a short video with products linked
Content Quality CheckScans a video for policy issues before you post
Content DataA dashboard for how your published videos perform

Making a video without filming one#

Auto-generate is the quick route. Pick a product, describe the selling point, add the images you want highlighted, and Seller Center produces a video. You can download it, edit it in CapCut or upload it straight to TikTok.

Video templates are the middle route. Filter by category and duration, pick one, and you are sent to CapCut to drop your own footage in.

A fair warning: auto-generated videos are built from still images, and TikTok's own content guidance lists static content as a mark of low quality. We'd treat these as a starting point to edit, and film real product-in-hand footage whenever you can.

Getting more out of a LIVE#

If a LIVE of yours ended with more than 300 views, LIVE Highlight lets you reuse it as a highlight video and link products to it. For shops that go LIVE often, this is the cheapest content you will ever make, because you have already made it.

Check before you post#

Content Quality Check lets you scan a video for possible policy issues before it goes on your official account. Catching a problem early protects the account.

It is on the desktop version of Seller Center, for sellers with at least one successful sale, with a daily quota that depends on your sales. You attach one product link for the check and can add more after posting.

TikTok is clear that the result is a guide. A "no issue" result does not guarantee the outcome after you publish, because the final review looks at more than the pre-check does.

Why your own videos help your affiliates#

Here is the part that connects to affiliates.

The single most useful thing you can put in a brief is an example. Two or three of your own videos, showing the product the way you want it shown, save a page of written instructions. Affiliates don't copy them. They use them to work out the tone, the key shot and what to say first.

So we'd make a small set of your own videos before you launch a campaign, not after. Use Get Inspired to see what is working in your category, film three short clips, run them through the quality check, and post them.

Using them in a campaign#

On ShopSlayer, a campaign's brief can include sample videos. Affiliates open them from the campaign page before they film, next to your key messages and the deadline.
