ShopSlayer vs Hiring a TikTok Shop Agency
By ShopSlayer TeamPublished Last updated
Key takeaways
- An agency sells people's time. ShopSlayer is software your own team uses.
- An agency can cover strategy, content, LIVE selling and ads. ShopSlayer covers affiliate campaigns only.
- With ShopSlayer you see every affiliate and every video yourself, the moment it is submitted.
- ShopSlayer plans start at $199 a month after a 14-day trial. Agencies usually charge a monthly retainer.
- If nobody on your team can spend a few hours a week on affiliates, a platform alone will not fix that.
Brands usually come to this question after one of two experiences. Either they tried running affiliates themselves and ran out of hours, or they hired an agency and couldn't tell what they were getting for the retainer.
Both are fair complaints, and they point to different fixes. Here is how we'd think about it. We make the platform, so read this knowing which side we sit on.
What you are actually buying#
An agency sells you a team. Depending on the scope, that team can plan your TikTok Shop strategy, recruit and manage affiliates, produce content, host LIVE selling and run your ads.
ShopSlayer sells you a tool. Your own team publishes a campaign, affiliates opt in, and you track who posted. It does one part of the job, affiliate campaigns, and leaves the rest to you.
Side by side#
Compared as of October 2026. The agency column describes what agencies typically offer; any one agency may differ.
| A TikTok Shop agency | ShopSlayer | |
|---|---|---|
| What you get | People who do the work | Software your team uses |
| Scope | Can include strategy, content, LIVE, ads and affiliates | Affiliate campaigns only |
| Price | Usually a monthly retainer, sometimes plus a share of sales | From $199 a month after a 14-day free trial |
| Your time | Low. You brief and approve. | A few hours a week per campaign |
| Where affiliates come from | The agency's own network and outreach | 5,000+ affiliates who opt in to your campaign |
| What you can see | Whatever the agency reports, usually weekly or monthly | Every affiliate and every video, as it is submitted |
| Who holds the relationships | Often the agency | You |
| Speed to first campaign | Depends on onboarding and contract | You can set up a campaign the day you sign up |
Where an agency is the better choice#
If you have budget and no people, hire the people. A platform will not write your brief, pack your samples or watch sixty videos for you.
An agency also makes sense when affiliates are only one piece of what you need. If you want LIVE selling five nights a week, a content studio and someone managing ad spend, that is a team's worth of work and no dashboard replaces it.
And a good agency brings judgement. Someone who has launched a hundred products knows things a tool cannot tell you.
Where it tends to go wrong#
The most common risk is visibility. The brand gets a monthly deck with totals. It cannot see which affiliates were approached, who said yes, who received a sample and never posted, or which videos are actually theirs.
The second risk is ownership. When the contract ends, the affiliates often go with the agency, because the agency's people held every conversation.
Neither is true of every agency. They are worth asking about before you sign.
What stays in your hands#
ShopSlayer is built for brands that want to run their own affiliate program, and that shapes what it does.
- Your brief, your voice. You write the brief and review the videos, so the content sounds like your brand and not like a template.
- One job, done properly. ShopSlayer handles affiliate campaigns: recruiting, briefing and tracking. Content production, LIVE hosting and ads stay with you or your agency.
- Your affiliates, your list. Every affiliate who joins your campaign is one you can see, work with again and invite back.
Who should pick which#
Pick an agency if nobody on your team has a few hours a week for this, you need LIVE selling or content production as well, or you want someone accountable for the whole channel.
Pick ShopSlayer if you have someone who can own affiliates, you want to see every affiliate and video yourself, you want the relationships to stay with your brand, or a retainer isn't in the budget yet.
Use both if you like your agency and want to see what they see. Have them run your campaigns inside ShopSlayer and you both look at the same numbers.
One campaign will tell you more than this page can. The free trial covers one, with up to 100 opt-in affiliates, and takes about as long to set up as a call with an agency takes to schedule.
